Carlos Alcaraz playing style

Alcaraz is an all-court, all-around tennis player who like to play aggressively from the baseline with a focus on his forehand, which is usually his most consistent and effective shot.

From any court position, he can either hit his forehand flat and quickly for wins or he can add a lot of topspin and margin over the net.

Moreover, he has a well-rounded backhand groundstroke that is more flat, lower net clearance, and capable of being redirected down the line for crisp winners.

He frequently mixes the force of his groundstrokes, which forces his opponents back into the court and into a defensive posture, with a drop shot that is frequently too well-placed and disguised to deal with. This is a fundamental component of his game.

He excels in drop and drive volleys at the net and regularly serves and volleys on important occasions.

He often hits his initial serve at a pace of approximately 210 km/h, putting minimal focus on where the service box should be (130 mph). He has received considerable criticism as a result of this.

He can add topspin to his second serve, which is superb and dependable, to produce a high bounce off the court and force opponents who return tighter serves to push back or make a bad return.

Alcaraz has received praise for his exceptional physical and athletic abilities. His straight sprinting, ability to counterattack from sometimes indefensible court positions, and incredibly high peak footspeed, in particular, have drawn similarities to a young Rafael Nadal and Gal Monfils.

For his confident lateral movement and court coverage, which are aided by physical splits and sliding through the court on defense, he has drawn comparisons to Novak Djokovic.

This is especially true on his backhand side, where he is frequently able to neutralize his opponent’s aggressive groundstrokes or drop-shot attempts.

Because of his excellent footwork, forehand inside-out skill, and ability to dominate the court with his offense, he has also occasionally drawn parallels to Roger Federer.
