Born on December 21, 1989, Kouyaté’s journey began in 1996 when he started playing football in his hometown with ASC Yego Dakar. In September 2006, he was scouted by RWDM Brussels, where he signed a youth contract in January of the following year. After playing ten league matches for RWDM Brussels, he moved to Anderlecht at the age of 19, making 206 appearances and winning the Belgian First Division A four times during his time there.

In June 2014, Kouyaté joined West Ham United in the Premier League, and four years later, he transferred to Crystal Palace for an estimated £9.5 million. Throughout his career, he has showcased his skills, scoring notable goals and earning praise for his performances.

Internationally, Kouyaté has been a key figure for the Senegal national team.
