Ghanasoccernt.com is reporting that Christian Atsu has decided to end his international career at the age of 28.

According to the report, Atsu feels neglected as no Ghana Football Association (GFA) official checked up on him when he was nursing an ijury which he sustained on Black Stars assignment.

Atsu picked up career threatening injury at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt last years and has struggled to rediscover his best form.

This has led to him losing his regular starting position at club level as Newcastle United manager Steve Bruce now prefers other wingers to him.

The report also stated that delivered his retirement message to Black Stars coach Akonnor when he visited England recently on a tour of Europe to meet Black Stars players.

It explains why the talented winger was excluded from the Ghana’s squad announced by Akonnor to face Sudan in a botched 2021 Africa Cup of Nations double-header qualifier.

Atsu has been capped 62 times by Ghana since his debut in 2012.
