Black Stars player, Christian Atsu’s Crime Check Foundation, an NGO which seek to free prisoners of minor offenses visited the Kumasi Central Prison today.

During their visit, they heard a story about a guy who was jailed for stealing 2 tins of milk and some sugar.

The inmate was sentenced to 6 months in prison for a very minor offense as petty stealing.

A post from the Crime Check Foundation Facebook page reads;

“Two tins of Milo and one cup of sugar earns him a six month prison sentence at Kumasi Central Prison. CCF paid his six hundred cedis fine and got him released to go and sin no more. It is surprising that those who are caught looting state coffers usually use technicalities in court to have their way whiles the poor is swiftly dispatched to prison.”
