It’s generally believed one of the ways of becoming rich is to become a pastor. Men of God have exploited their followers, often using superfluous words backed by verses from the Bible.
Report we just had indicate that some church members of a Nigerian church situated at Ibadan have locked their pastor out of the premises over alleged embezzlement of funds, improper behavior and abuse of pulpit.
According to Nigerian Tribune, the angry members of the Ajegunle Baptist Church, Ibadan, Oyo state, are insisting that their pastor, Reverend Oyewole Oyekan, vacates the premises. It was reported that Reverend Oyekan ruined the financial status of the church as about N4 million was traced to his personal account.
Speaking on behalf of the church members, Mr Sangolade Olufemi disclosed that: “Our pastor has turned himself to the treasurer and financial secretary of the church, whereas we employed him. He spends our money single handedly without getting clearance from the financial secretary or church council. He cornered the account of the school for five years. When the school account had problem, he started banking the school’s money in his personal account to the tune of over N4m. Even the church executive does not know the actual amount with him.”
