Prior to being promoted to the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers, Burnes played for the Arizona League Brewers in his professional debut. Burnes pitched 35+2⁄3 innings in a 3–0 victory with a 2.02 ERA in a game between Arizona and Wisconsin.
