Controversial Member of Parliament Kennedy Agyapong believes a partial lockdown is necessary at the moment in Ghana’s fight against deadly coronavirus pandemic.

His call comes hours after government’s latest announcement of 25 more confirmed cases Tuesday, taking the country’s tally to 52.

The MP described as scary, the exponential nature the country’s cases are turning out.

“We are joking,” he said.

Responding to a question on the potential impact of a lockdown on the economy, the MP said, “we have to do a partial lockdown for the meantime and if the situation escalates, we have to have a total lockdown.”

He urged the administration to prioritise the safety and right to life of Ghanaians over the economic gains.

“The world’s economy is collapsing but we can bounce back if the people are healthy,” he said.
