On November 5, 2021, at least ten people were killed and hundreds were injured during Scott’s performance at the Astroworld Festival in NRG Park in his hometown of Houston, Texas. A crowd crush happened on the first night, resulting in the cancellation of the festival’s second night.
In video footage of the incident, Scott is seen continuing to perform despite crowd chants to stop; observing at least one audience member had been injured, then ordering security for a brief moment to “help, jump in real quick, keep going,” only to continue with the rest of the show for the next hour; even though an ambulance was moving through the crowd and extracting lifeless victims. The ages of the victims killed ranged from 9 to 27.
2. Assault Allegation during performance at Nebula
Scott was performing at Nebula, a nightclub in New York City, with Don Toliver on March 1, 2023, when a sound technician, named only as Mark, ordered Scott to turn down the music because it was too loud for the venue’s capacity.
Scott allegedly retaliated by giving Mark the middle finger and striking him in the head, necessitating medical assistance and the arrival of police at approximately 3:25 a.m. Scott allegedly drank booze and caused $12,000 in damage to the club’s sound equipment before leaving. On March 2, 2023, the New York City Police Department issued a warrant for Scott’s arrest in connection with the incident.
The incident was resolved with a settlement with the NYPD declining to seek charges.
