Ghana’s vice-president, Dr. Bawumia is once again in the news for making a false statement.

It could be recalled that the vice president addressed the 10th Annual International Tax Conference in Accra on Wednesday, August 23.

During his submission, he made a claim that Ghana is the first country in Africa and one of the few in the world to achieve interoperability between bank accounts and mobile money wallets adding that not even the United States does not have this interoperability.

Well, Facts Check Ghana subjected his claim to intense scrutiny and it was established that it was not true.

They made this known in a recent post on their verified social media handle on the popular social media platform, Twitter.

The post reads;

“Vice President @MBawumia addressed the 10th Annual International Tax Conference in Accra yesterday w here he made a statement we fact-checked to be false more than two times.”

Some reactions from Ghanaians are;

@exxonline – But the US doesn’t have mobile money so how can they have a feature for a service they don’t use. They have e-transfer which is just bank to bank transfers across all banks. Canada has interact for that.

@authenticbodey – The NPP will be doing a great mistake by presenting this man as their next flag bearer.

@mantse_alewa – I wonder why people still waste their time to listen to this man cos he has never said any truth ever since he became a politician.
