Aduana Stars defender, Farouk Adams who was arrested after he allegedly caused the death of a policeman by hitting him with his car has had his case adjourned to May 5 2021 by the Berekum Circuit Court in the Bono Region.

The case had to be adjourned by the Judge, Justice Osei Kofi Amoako after the prosecutor Emmanuel Sampson failed to show up in court.

Recall, Farouk Adams was reported to have caused the death of a police officer identified as, Constable Amos Niganoka Mattey after hitting him with his car.

The incident was reported to have happened on the 1st of March at Asuotiano in the Dormaa East District on the Berekum Dormaa road while the officer was riding a motorbike as the suspect hit him with his Toyota Camry with registration number GW 5882-17.

Farouk Adams was then arrested on the 2nd of March and charged with six counts. He was charged with the failure to reports the accident to the police, failing to attend to the accident victim,  negligently causing harm, careless driving, driving without motor insurance, and also driving without valid road certificates.

Farouk was remanded for 14 days but was granted a GHC60,000 upon his second appearance in the court with some sureties.

Farouk was expected to appear in court today, 7 April but the prosecutor failed to appear in the court and also failed to issue an official reason. Due to that, Farouk’s case has been adjourned to May 5.

Meanwhile, late constable Amos Niganoka Mattey will be buried on 17th April 2021at the Spring of Life Assemblies of God Church at Tampe-Kukuo in Tamale.
