News coming in says that about ten shops containing machines and various wares have been razed down by fire at Akwatialine located in Kumasi.

According to reports from TV3 Midday news, the fire was caused by one of the residents who was reportedly burning some rubbish near the burst environment.

The products which have been burnt down are reportedly estimated to be in hundreds of thousands of Ghana cedis. Owners of the burnt shops and other residents told the police that the shops got burnt in a matter of minutes after the fire spread in the area.

The police in an interview with TV3 in anger said that the fire was preventable because it was predictable. He emphasized that the fire burnt down the shops due to the dryness of the atmosphere because of the harmattan season.

He also disclosed that the suspect who is believed to have the fire started has eloped and is currently looking for him or her to face the law. He advised the general public to be cautious about how to handle fire in order to prevent such instances.

The fire service officers were called to the scene but in the quest to control the fire, they run out of water but have called for reinforcement as they try to control the fire outbreak.
