The Minister of Information Kojo Oppong Nkrumah has disclosed that the government is not considering a lockdown in the country despite the rise in number of confirmed cases.

The country has been in chaos for some days due to the increase of the world’s Coronavirus death and confirmed cases.

However, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah has given an assurance that all the necessary options are on the table. He says government continues to receive advise and analysis from the experts. He further stated that the government understands the agitations from the citizens and has also received suggestions from the public but are trusting the process and will allow the experts to advise the decision makers to make a decision on this trying moments.

The Information Minister cited an example of how many people suggested that Ghanaian students who were stuck in China be brought back to the country but upon the advise from experts, those suggestions were not taken into consideration.

“Events followed suggested that experts got it right by their advise they gave. There are a lot of agitations from people to lockdown the country because we are seeing it everywhere, but every jurisdiction have different dynamics when it comes to food supply and essential supply etc. So the decision to lockdown is not a decision that should be taken lightly or because we’ve seen everybody doing it” he stated.

Mr Oppong Nkrumah says experts are advising decision makers and the president to make everything possible. He has urged all medical experts to channel all suggestions to their superiors so it can be delivered and upon critical discussion might be taken into consideration.

He emphasized that there’s no decision to lockdown in the country.
