Former executive secretary to the Inspector General of Police, Peter Toobu, has stated embattled Member of Parliament (MP) for Senya East constituency, Mavis Hawa Koomson, will need bombs as defeat stares at her in the face during her the forthcoming election on the back of the gun she fired recently.

“Firing a gun at Registration Centre! Impliedly you will need bombs & grenades on Dec 7 to justify the fact that you fought fiercely but lost. It’s normal to see defeat staring at one’s face. The bullet is never an answer in the search for victory towards national development. Was training to fire in a democratic process part of the Special Dev’t Initiatives?  Relax and lose decently; it’s called democracy,” he wrote on social media.

Ms. Koomson who is also the Minister of Special Development Initiatives had told Adom TV immediately after the nasty incident that she was compelled to fire the shots because she felt threatened and besides there were no police officers around to protect her.

Ms Hawa justified her action further by saying she went to the centre after receiving information that people from outside the constituency were bussed to register there as voters which is against the law. She said this information was relayed to her by a reliable informant and upon the third call she had from the same person on different days, she decided to storm the place on Monday. Ms Mavis Hawa Koomson said upon reaching one of the registration centres, she noticed some hoodlums (apparently) on motorbikes who were ready to cause mayhem.
