This year’s VGMA event has generated more controversies than any other VGMA event in Ghana. The major talking point of the event came when Shatta Wale mounted the stage, same moment his bitter rival, Stonebwoy was receiving an award.

If we go down memory lane, this isn’t the first time that Shatta Wale has disrupted a VGMA event, as he (Shatta Wale) disrupted the show wayback in 2013.

This year’s event was held on the 18 May, 2019 and coincidentally, Shatta Wale dispruted this same awards in 2013 on the same day, 18 May.

We find it weird but intriguing as to how the two independent event coincided on the same day but different years, and it was this same Shatta Wale who caused the fiasco in the event.

In 2013, the drama started when female dancehall artiste, Kaakie was announced as the winner of the Reggae/Dancehall Song of the Year. The controversial artiste was so incensed the award did not go to him so much that he left the venue in anger whilst kicking anything he could find in his path. That category had Blakk Rasta, Eazzy, Knii Lante and Samini.

Shatta Wale after the event subsequently released a diss track to Charterhouse titled, ‘A Letter To Charterhouse’.

Fast forward, on 18 May 2019, Shatta Wale again disrupted the VGMA event but this time he mounted the stage the same time that his rival, Stonebwoy was receiving an award. Something most Ghanaians can’t comprehend considering the tension between these two.

The very pretty beginning of the biggest awarding scheme in Ghana Vodafone Ghana Music Awards turned sour after the SM boss, Shatta Wale stormed the stage to cause confusion after his rival Stonebwoy was crowned the best Reggae Dancehall Artiste of the year.

what might have triggered to this pandemonium is a little bit sketchy but per all indications, we guess Shatta Wale walked on the stage just because he didn’t understand why Stonebwoy should win this particular award 5 times in a role.

Many people have read various meaning into what Shatta Wale did, with him saying he meant no harm. His true and genuine reasons are yet to be known, but it may be too late as both Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale have been banned and subsequently battling the issue in court!!!
