Retired Ghanaian-born footballer and former Germany international, Gerald Asamoah has stated that he has not regretted choosing to play for Germany instead of Ghana.

Before pledging his allegiance to Germany, Gerald Asamoah who is currently the head coach of Schalke 04’s first team revealed in an interview that he carefully considered a variety of factors before reaching his decision.

Geral Asamoah told Peace Power Sports on Peace FM that the decision to play for Germany, was the pivotal move that pushed him to the height of his career, and he has no regrets about it.

“I have no remorse. At that moment, it was the wisest choice that I could have made. If Otto Addo had been the coach at the time, it’s possible that I would have made a different choice, but at the time, it was one of the finest choices I could have made “he said.

“It has been of great assistance to me, and I adore Ghana. I am keeping up with Ghana and watching Ghana. I was born in Ghana, but I now call Germany my home. Playing for Germany was one of the smartest choices I’ve ever made. he added.

Gerald Asamoah was a striker throughout his playing career, and he was recognized for his agility, athletic ability, and mindset of always being eager to put in the additional effort.

The former Schalke attacker played for the European Giants in both the 2002 and 2006 World Cups, although he is most remembered for his 43 appearances and six goals for Germany.
