Despite the fact that Manuela Escobar is mostly recognized as the lone child of the “King of Cocaine,” Manuela Escobar’s life today is very dissimilar from that of her father. Manuela Escobar was taught to run before she could walk. She had a lot of chasing to do, too, because she was Pablo Escobar’s daughter.

Being the offspring of a legendary Colombian drug lord had many advantages, such as getting all the things you could ask for on your birthday, but it also had some very major disadvantages.

Manuela Escobar, who was just nine years old when Pablo Escobar was shot and killed in 1993, is the only member of her family who has never been charged with a single crime. She has never been able to escape the stigma associated with her father’s crimes, despite having a spotless record. She disappeared from the public eye somewhere in the 1990s, and she hasn’t been seen in a long time.

Early Years In Manuela Escobar’s Life

Manuela Escobar was born in 1984, just as her father, Pablo Escobar, was rising to prominence as one of the world’s most notorious drug lords. Juan Pablo, Manuela’s only sibling, was born in 1977.

Manuela probably didn’t know exactly what her father did for a career because she was a little child when he became the “King of Cocaine.” She was aware, though, that her father would do anything to make her smile.

Pablo Escobar had a warm place for his daughter despite his violent image. And at the height of his influence, the Medellin Cartel made up to $70 million every single day. As a result, he was ready and able to purchase almost anything that his young “princess” desired.

Manuela Escobar requested a unicorn from her father one year. The drug kingpin allegedly instructed his employees to purchase a white horse and staple “horns” and “wings” to it instead of telling the woman that unicorns don’t actually exist. The animal later passed away from a horrible sickness.

And as Pablo Escobar’s criminal activities started to catch up with him, he did everything in his power to protect his daughter. He allegedly burned $2 million in cash to keep his daughter warm in the early 1990s as the family was from the law in the mountains of Colombia.

The drug lord soon came to the conclusion that his family was no longer secure with him. He then gave Maria Victoria Henao, his wife, the order to take their kids to a safe home that was guarded by the government. Pablo Escobar passed away violently in December 1993, mirroring how he had lived.

Pablo Escobar’s Death

Everyone is familiar with Pablo Escobar’s spectacular downfall, which included the drug lord’s failed effort to flee over neighborhood rooftops, the resulting gunfire with Colombian officials, and the drug lord’s brutal murder.

The saga of Pablo Escobar’s family did not end with his death, though. It was, in a sense, the beginning of their story, or at least the start of a new chapter.

Manuela Escobar, her brother Juan Pablo, and her mother Maria Victoria Henao all left Colombia as soon as the drug lord was killed because they knew they would be unwelcome there.

They petitioned the Vatican for assistance, but no country offered them shelter after Escobar’s crimes, and the Cali Cartel was seeking millions of dollars in compensation for Escobar’s crimes against them.

Before landing in Argentina in late 1994, the family attempted to find sanctuary in Mozambique, South Africa, Ecuador, Peru, and Brazil while using false names. And for a while, it appeared as though their past was in the past.

However, Maria Victoria Henao (also known as Victoria Henao Vallejos) and Juan Pablo (also known as Sebastian Marroqun) were unexpectedly detained in 1999. The wife and son of Pablo Escobar had been charged with forgery of a public record, money laundering, and illegal affiliation.

They were released after several months in jail because there was inadequate proof. The fact that Pablo Escobar’s daughter had reportedly never spent a day in jail raised a lot of concerns about their arrest, though. Where on earth was Manuela, then?

How did Manuela Escobar fare?

The only Escobar family member who has never been charged with a crime or otherwise connected to one is Manuela Escobar. When Pablo Escobar’s daughter was assassinated, she was just nine years old. She subsequently mostly kept a low profile ever since, which she still does now.

However, rumors that she had not been there spread when her mother and brother were detained in 1999. There was news regarding Pablo Escobar’s daughter for the first time in years, however there weren’t many specifics. According to a report on the Colombian news website El Tiempo, Manuela Escobar was residing in Buenos Aires as “Juana Manuela Marroqun Santos” at the time.

She was residing at the Jaramillo apartment complex at the time. Manuela Escobar’s life was anything but opulent, despite the reports that swiftly spread that she and her brother were sitting on millions of dollars in stolen drug money. She was actually having trouble qualifying as middle-class.

It was a big cry from her upbringing, when she literally had money to burn. However, Juana Marroqun’s life was significantly better than Manuela Escobar’s in many aspects. Juana had some friends her own age, a proper school, and a secure family, whereas Manuela had tutors, instability, and limited time to connect with her contemporaries.

But sadly, after her mother and brother were arrested, everything changed. Despite the fact that her family members had been freed, she quickly started to live in constant terror of someone hunting down her family members and exacting retribution for the crimes her father had committed. She too fell into a severe depressive episode.

However, her mother and brother gradually came back into the forefront. Both of them have already published books and given open interviews to the media regarding their relationships with Pablo Escobar. Manuela, though, has flatly declined to take part. She hasn’t broken any laws, but she still lives in concealment.

The most well-known recluse in the world today is Manuela Escobar. But her loved ones claim that she avoids publicity for a tragic cause. The daughter of Pablo Escobar has experienced many depression episodes since 1999. And it appears that her mental health has gotten worse.

Manuela has allegedly made an attempt on her own life, according to her brother Juan Pablo (who still goes by the name Sebastián Marroqun). And for her own security and well-being, she apparently now resides with her brother and his wife.

Even worse, according to her brother, she continues to live in constant fear of being discovered. She appears to feel that anyone who learns of her identity would link her to her father’s misdeeds and that one day, her family members will pay the price for his crimes with their own lives.

It is unclear whether Manuela Escobar, who is already 37 years old, will ever speak out again or even reveal her face to the world.
