On November 10, 2017, during a 74–59 victory over Iowa State University, Porter made his debut for the season. Three days following his debut, he led Wagner College to a resounding 99–55 victory with 11 points and 8 rebounds.

A week later, in a 67-62 victory over Emporia State University, Porter achieved his first double-double of his college career with 11 points and 11 rebounds.

In a 68–56 victory over the University of Georgia, Porter recorded a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds on January 10, 2018, his first start of the season for Missouri.

Porter started for the squad for the following five games before spending the remainder of the season on the bench. In a 74-66 victory over Vanderbilt University on February 27, Porter recorded a season-high 24 points, a team-high seven rebounds, and a team-high six assists.

He made his NCAA Tournament debut for Missouri in the final game of the season. Porter declared on April 5th that he and his brother would be participating in the 2018 NBA draft.

He would, however, enter the draft without first signing with an agent, unlike Michael Porter Jr., giving him the option to stay in Missouri for an additional year if he so desires.

Porter made the decision to return to Missouri on May 30, the deadline for entering the NBA Draft, rather than going early.

Following a scrimmage in which he tore both his ACL and MCL, Porter’s absence from his second season was announced on October 21, 2018. On March 23, 2019, Porter had another ACL tear while recovering.

Porter registered as one of the 233 early entrants for the 2019 NBA draft despite the injury. Porter was one of the original 66 players that were invited to the NBA Draft Combine in 2019. Porter registered his name in the 2019 NBA draft’s entry pool before May 30.

In the 2019 NBA draft, Porter was not selected. Porter inked a contract with the Memphis Grizzlies on March 8, 2020. Porter was re-signed by the Memphis Grizzlies to a multi-year contract, the team announced on November 22, 2020.

He made 11 appearances before the Grizzlies dismissed him on July 30, 2021. Porter became a member of the Denver Nuggets for the NBA Summer League of 2022.

Porter was added to the Wisconsin Herd’s opening night roster on November 3, 2022. Porter signed a contract with the Detroit Pistons on October 2, 2023, however on October 21 he was waived. He signed up for the Motor City Cruise nine days later.

Porter and the Toronto Raptors agreed to a two-way contract on December 9, 2023. According to an ESPN article on March 25, 2024, Porter was the subject of an NBA investigation because of “multiple instances of betting irregularities over the past several months”.
