Reports from the Academic Board of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in the early hours of Thursday released a statement disclosing that about 6,000 students were deferred over failure to pay fees.

It would be recalled that the authorities of the institution extended the deadline for fees paying from March 31st to April 11 in order for some of the students to fulfill their obligations however, most students were not able to make payments.

The Public Relations Officer (PRO) of KNUST, Dr. Daniel Noris Bekoe has said some of the students deferred because of the irresponsible spending of their fees. Speaking to Accra-based GHOne TV, the PRO stated that the school conducted an investigation before deferring students.

He stated that most of the deferred students invested their school fees on online betting, and buying vehicles for online ride-hailing services, bakeries, and other businesses.
