Reports reaching us indicate that the current Student Representative Council (SRC) President of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Adu-Baah Charles has allegedly been beaten severely by a group of alumni believed to be affiliated to the Unity Hall (Conti) for not awarding them their due share after campaigning for him to win the elections.

These guys traveled from Accra to come to Kumasi to meet the SRC President and express their discontent towards him for neglecting the people who campaigned for him ahead of their 2019 SRC elections.

Two of the boys have been identified as Costy and Adongo, and according to sources, they are known well-known Conti figures.

The SRC president confirmed the news and narrated how it happened.

He revealed that the guys met him off the Rahko School complex stretch around Kotei Kumasi, outside the University campus and chanted ‘Mission accomplished’ after awarding him with eight (8) straight slaps on the face and threatening him to be vigilant in his activities.

The reason why these guys are on the heels of the student leader was that he (the SRC President) failed to award some undeserving candidates of the ‘Ketewa Bia Nsua’ (KBN) funds the group presented to the President.

The KBN funds provide some financial assistance to needy students while on campus. It is an initiative of the KNUST SRC.

“They came behind me, punched me in the chest and started slapping me from all angles. I questioned them why they were doing that and they said, I didn’t give their people some of the KBN funds and also provide accommodation to selected persons at the SRC hostel.

They chanted mission accomplished whilst maltreating,” ABC said.

He also revealed that he has since reported the matter to the Police and have received medical attention.
