Canadian professional Ice Hockey defenseman and alternate captain, Kristopher Joseph Pierre Irwin Letang was born on April 24th, 1987 in Montreal, Canada.

Letang is a member of the National Hockey League’s Pittsburgh Penguins (NHL). He spent three seasons playing junior hockey in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL), where he was chosen 62nd overall by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.

Letang won the Stanley Cup with Pittsburgh in 2009, his second full NHL season. In 2016, the Penguins defeated the San Jose Sharks to make him a two-time Stanley Cup champion. In 2017, the Penguins defeated the Nashville Predators to make him a three-time Stanley Cup champion.

He has represented Canada internationally at the under-18 and under-20 levels, taking home back-to-back World Junior Championship gold medals in 2006 and 2007.

Letang made his international debut for Canada during the 2005 World U18 Championships in the Czech Republic, during his junior season. Letang won a silver medal with four points in six games, falling to the United States in the championship game.

Letang participated in the World Junior Championships for the following two years, winning gold in 2006 and 2007 as part of a five-year Canadian championship streak. In Vancouver, where Canada served as the host nation, he helped his nation win the inaugural gold medal. The following year, he returned to Sweden as team captain and scored six points in six games.

Along with Jonathan Toews and Carey Price, Letang was selected to the tournament All-Star team.
