Meet Len Goodman’s Son: James William Goodman: Len Goodman officially known as Leonard Gordon Goodman was an English professional ballroom dancer, dance judge, and coach.

Born on April 25, 1944, he started dancing at the late age of 19, after his doctor recommended it as therapy for a foot injury.

Goodman turned professional, won various competitions, and retired from dancing after winning the British Championships at Blackpool in his late twenties

He was a recipient of the Carl Alan Award, in recognition of outstanding contributions to dance and, in 2006 and 2007.

A show in which he appeared was nominated for the Emmy Award in the Outstanding Reality/Competition Program category

Goodman appeared as head judge on the BBC One dance competition Strictly Come Dancing from its inception in 2004 until 2016.

His final appearance was on the Christmas Day Special. On 9 May 2017, it was announced that Shirley Ballas would succeed Goodman as head judge.

Goodman also appeared as head judge on the television dance program, Dancing With The Stars from 2005 until 2022.

He announced during the season 31 semifinals broadcast that he would be retiring from the show (Dancing With The Stars) to spend more time with his family in Great Britain.

Between 2013 and 2018 Goodman occasionally presented a Sunday afternoon music show on BBC Radio 2 during some of Paul O’Grady’s weeks off.

Sadly, the former Strictly Come Daving judge has died. Len Goodman passed away from bone cancer at the age of 78 on Saturday 22 April 2023, he had been in a hospice in Tunbridge Wells in Kent.

In a statement, his agent Jackie Gill said: “It is with great sadness to announce that Len Goodman has passed away peacefully, aged 78.

“A much-loved husband, father, and grandfather who will be sorely missed by family, friends, and all who knew him.”

Len Goodman is survived by a son called James William Goodman. The late professional ballroom dancer then had a long-term relationship with a woman named Lesley and they had a son, James.

James William Goodman was born on 26 January 1981, but at the age of 12 moved with his mother back to her native Isle of Wight after his parents had broken up.

James followed in his father’s footsteps and trained to be a dancer. He’s a Latin and ballroom dancer and he teaches at his father’s dance hub, Goodman Dance Academy

There’s no information on whether the late dance judge had another child with his ex-wife, Cherry Kingston, or his present wife, Sue Goodman.
