Lionel Messi has officially joined Paris-based club, Paris-Saint Germain.

This comes after his emotional exit from Catalan club, Barcelona due to circumstances beyond his reach.

News about his completing his move to PSG was announced on social media by international and renowned football journalist, Fabrizio Romano.

Making this known, he wrote;

“Lionel Messi joins PSG… HERE WE GO! Total agreement completed on a two-years contract. Option to extend until June 2024. Salary around €35m net per season add ons included. Messi has definitely accepted PSG contract proposal and will be in Paris in the next hours.”

Here are some reactions from football lovers;

@Nomad_1x – No way he joins an oil club… should have joined Manchester City, a real club that isn’t funded by oil. A real club that didn’t buy their way to the top. A real club with non greedy owners. Honestly disgusted he decided to join such a club.

@EmenaIo – PSG is a sad ending to Messi’s career. From an already poor quality league to one that provides no challenge whatsoever. A part of me always hoped he saw what Ronaldo did at United and that it would drive Messi to test himself in the best competition of all. Even at City. Poor.

@Sam__FCB – Messi joining a PSG team that LOST the Ligue 1 and Supercup to Lille vs Penaldo joining a Juventus team that WON the Serie A and Coppa Italiana. Choose who is going for the BIGGER challenge
