The Founder and Leader of the Liberal Party of Ghana, Kofi Akpaloo said his government will abolish the law that prevents Ghanaians with dual citizenship to qualify and contest as leaders in the country.

He said there are many good Ghanaians who though have naturalized for order countries but wished to help in the development of the country when given some opportunities or positions but today cannot express themselves because of a law that prevents them to hold such positions.

According to Akpaloo, Article 94 Section 2A of the constitution is retrogressive and retard Ghana’s economic development and it must be abolished amicably if the nation is serious to become an economic superpower on the continent.

“If Barack Obama was able to become a President of the United States of American (USA) then a country like Ghana should take a second look of the constitution and make an amendment in order to encourage Ghanaians in the diaspora to come on board and help develop the nation”, he said.

He cited another example that if Ghanaian-UK, Hon. Paul Yaw Boateng could become a successful MP in British, hold two ministerial positions, become a cabinet Chief Secretary to the Treasury and also UK High Commissioner to South Africa, then it’s about time we rethink and incorporate best brains in the public sector to see the transformation we want in the country.

Kofi Akpaloo said his government will repeal the Article 94 Section 2A of the constitutions to allow Ghanaians with dual citizenship to be eligible to contest as MP’s, hold ministerial positions and work in the public service.

He also called on the Ghanaians especially the youths to vote for him to become the next president of the country if want to enjoy the good
