The petition was led by the member of parliament representing Ashanti Akim-North, Hon. Andy Kwame Appiah-Kubi on Tuesday 25th October 2022 during a media briefing. He said that the majority in parliament will not participate in any business relating to the government or the 2023 budget if the finance minister and the minister of state of the finance ministry are not removed from office with immediate effect.

This initiative follows the previous concerns raised to the government which have not yieled any positive response.

We have had occasions to defend allegations of conflicts of interest, lack of confidence and trust against the leadership of the finance ministry”, he said.

“The recent development within the economy is of major concern to our caucus and our constituents. We have made our grave concern to our president through the parliamentary leadership and the leadership of the party without any positive response”, he added.

“We are by this medium communicating our strong desire that the president changes the minister of finance and the minister of state at the finance ministry without further delay in order to restore hope in the finance sector and reverse the downward trends in the growth of the economy”.
