He had an illustrious career in radio and television, starting as a DJ on Voice of Wits campus radio in the 80s. Pilgrim became a household name in South Africa, hosting numerous radio shows, including stints at 5FM, 94.7 Highveld Stereo, 94.5 Kfm, Hot919, and Hot102.7fm.

In 1995, Pilgrim joined 5FM, where he quickly became a popular DJ known for his infectious energy and wit. He left the station in 2003 and joined 94.7 Highveld Stereo in Johannesburg.
