English/Polish professional footballer, Matty Stuart Cash was born on August 7th, 1997 in Slough in the United Kingdom.

Cash is a right-back for both the Poland national team and Premier League team Aston Villa. Before signing his first professional deal with Nottingham Forest and becoming a regular right-back, Cash began his career at Wycombe Wanderers and later the FAB Academy. He joined Aston Villa in September of that year.

On his mother’s side, Cash has Polish ancestors. In October 2021, he obtained a Polish passport, making him eligible to represent Poland’s national team. The following month, he made his debut and went on to represent the team at the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

After spending 16 months with the FAB Football Academy at Bisham Abbey, Cash signed a contract with Nottingham Forest in October 2014. When Wycombe Wanderers’ youth squads were dismantled due to financial difficulties, Cash was freed and left to join FAB at the age of 14.

He joined League Two team Dagenham & Redbridge on a one-month loan on March 4, 2016, and played his first games in professional football there. On March 12, 2016, the Daggers lost to Hartlepool United 3-1, and he scored his first goal for the team.

Cash committed to a three-year contract with Forest on August 5, 2016, keeping him with the team through 2019. A day later, he started in a 4-3 victory over Burton Albion, making his first team debut.

Kenny Burns, a former Forest defender, praised Cash’s early-season play, saying that the midfielder was “putting to disgrace” some of the more seasoned Forest players with his efforts.

Cash had only made five appearances for Forest when, on September 11, 2016, at the start of a 2-2 draw away to Aston Villa, he fractured his tibia, which was projected to keep him out for three months.

RB Leipzig of the Bundesliga made a £6 million offer for Cash on January 4th. Cash extended his existing contract with the club until 2021 by signing a new contract on March 3, 2017, after choosing to stay at Forest after the January transfer window closed.

Milan, Everton, and West Ham were among the teams interested in signing Cash in January 2020. To assist the side gain promotion to the Premier League, Cash stated he would like to remain at Forest through the end of the current campaign. He named Jack Grealish of Aston Villa as a factor in this choice.

Aston Villa announced on September 3, 2020, that it has signed Cash to a five-year deal for a reported £14 million, with an option for £16 million. On September 21, 2020, Cash made his club debut in a 1-0 home win over Sheffield United.
