Barcelona ace, Lionel Messi has shattered the previous world record with the most-liked photo in the annals of photo-sharing app, Instagram.
On July 10, Messi won his first major trophy with Argentina, when the Albiceleste won the Copa America with a 1-0 victory over Brazil at the Maracana stadium and the celebratory photo he shared has gone on to rack over 20 million likes.

Cristiano Ronaldo previously held the record for the most liked photo with 9.8 million likes after he paid tribute to Diego Maradona after he died.
Ronaldo captioned his post as: “Today I’m saying goodbye to a friend and the world is saying goodbye to an eternal genius. One of the best of all-time. An unparalleled magician. He leaves too soon, but he leaves a legacy without limits and an emptiness that will never be filled. Rest in peace, ace. You will never be forgotten.”
Messi emerged as the top player of the Copa America after he scored four goals and provided five assists in the tournament.
Messi shared a photo of himself cinching the Copa America trophy with the captioned : What a beautiful madness! This is unbelievable! Thank you, God! We are the champions!
