Messi stole the show in the absence of his long-term rival, Ronaldo, as he scored to help Barcelona defeat Juventus 2-0 in the Champions League on Wednesday night.

Ronaldo missed his first meeting with Messi in over two years because of coronavirus. The Portuguese is self-isolating having contracted the virus earlier this month.

Barcelona led in the first through a deflected strike by Dembele before Messi sealed the win with a late penalty.

Juventus had a man sent off prior to Messi’s goal while Alvaro Morata had three goals ruled out for offside.

Ronaldo is likely to be available for the return match in Barcelona in December.
