A woman identified as Ayisha Tahiru and her daughter, Amina Murtala have reportedly been arrested by the Tamale police for allegedly selling weed-laced toffee(weed toffee) to school children.

According to reports, the 45-year-old woman and her daughter have been selling weed toffee to school children at Sakasaka in the Northern region.

Confirming the incident, the Regional Crime Officer, Supt. Bernard Baaba Alanga stated that they were informed by an anonymous person that the suspect and her daughter have been selling what they suspect to be narcotic drugs mixed with toffee to school children at Sakasaka.

Supt. Alanga further revealed that the police after storming the residence and shop of the suspects retrieved about 104 pieces of the weed toffee in their possession. He added that the suspects are being charged for distributing and possessing substances suspected to be narcotic drugs.

He further revealed that the substances found in the possession of the suspects will be sent to the police forensic lab for further checks and should they also confirm their reports that the substance is a weed, they will formally charge the suspects.

Meanwhile, further investigations have commenced locating others involved in the distribution process of the weed-laced toffee for them to be charged too.
