Ghana’s biggest mobile telecommunications services providers, MTN have reacted to claims suggesting that MTN QwikLoan data was affected during their recent network challenges.

There were reports suggesting that MTN has lost its QwikLoan data and as such, they cannot be restored but it seems this isn’t true.

The message that was circulating reads;

“The lost is partly due to the second cut in the undersea fibre that stores information shared by third parties running the company’s USSDs.

Loan defaulters and customers owing the company have been asked to volunteer information about the last loans they took and when they are supposed to pay. “This is the only way we can have the details and we wish they share the information with us to help us retrieve the funds.”

But, an official communique from MTN for customers to disregard the above message has been issued. Read the official response from MTN below;

“MTN wishes to inform its loyal customers to debunk rumours about loss of data on its QWIKLOAN services.

Data on QWIKLOAN are stored securely and under no circumstance will an undersea fibre cut affect data storage for the service. This information is not true and should be disregarded.”
