Nas bin Olu Dara Jones (born September 14, 1973) is an American rapper better known by his stage name Nas (/nz/). He is recognized as one of the best rappers of all time, with roots in East Coast hip hop. Jones, the son of jazz musician Olu Dara, began his musical career in 1989 under the alias “Nasty Nas” and made demos for Large Professor.
