In an interview on Happy FM, Obofour said that the National Democratic Congress(NDC) has to replace their current flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama with the MP for Tamale South, Haruna Iddrisu.

His comments comes after the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) projected victory for opposition NDC in the 2024 elections even though the polls are years away.

“The next parliamentary and presidential elections are due in 2024. Under the constitutionally mandated term limits, Mr. Akufo-Addo cannot run for a third term. Mr. Mahama is reportedly considering whether to run again, but we expect the NDC to seek to revitalize its prospects with a fresh candidate,”

he said.

“After two terms of NPP government, we expect the NDC to win the 2024 presidential election and to gain a small majority in parliament,” he added.

He said that he believes Haruna Iddrisu can do better in the 2024 election than Mahama and has even heard rumors that Mahama is afraid of him joining him in the race of becoming the next flagbearer.

Recall, Stephen Ashitey Adjei who is a member of the NDC also strongly advised that the party replaces Mahama because he is not marketable.
