A Nigerian man identified as Christopher Chiabata has been apprehended by the police for reportedly assassinating his 41-year-old wife over a money issue.

According to reports, Christopher attempted to take his own life with poison after murdering his wife with a pistol over an argument.
After his wife died at the hospital, neighbors apprehended Christopher and handed him over to the police. Christopher claimed that he only killed his wife in self-defense.
Confessing to the crime, Christopher stated that his wife tried to cheat him over money they earned from their farming business.
He said that his wife has refused to account for the money they make from their farming business for over two years to him after his constant request.
“Whenever I take our produce to the market, she does not give me an account of the sales. For two years she refused to give me an account of the money we have realized from the farm, he said.
Christopher continued by saying that he asked his wife to leave the farm business so he handles it alone but she refused and it ended up in a heated argument but their neighbors intervened.
So one day, I called her to give me an account and when she refused we started fighting until neighbours separated us. “In anger, the next day, I asked her to leave the farm business for me to handle alone. One day when I returned from the farm, she had packed my things out of the house.
That day we fought again and neighbours separated and settled us. “Fed up the whole development, I asked her to pack out of the house the following day but she refused. Then we started fighting at that point. She is stronger than me so each time we fight she would beat me mercilessly. So this time as she was beating me, out of anger, I struck her with a pestle.
He said that his wife collapsed and was rushed to the hospital for medical attention but all efforts to save her proved futile.
It was at that point she collapsed. Neighbours helped rush her to the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital where she died,” he said.
