The Ghana Football Association, (GFA), has debunked reports that some players of the Black Stars took charms or black magic also called ‘juju’ to camp during the African Cup of Nations tournament in Cameroon.

The senior national team were kicked out of the competition after failing to win a single match and secure three points to become the worst performance by them in the history of the AFCON campaign.

Several reports emerged with some alleging that players took to charms to their hotel rooms and that is the reason why the team failed woefully at the tournament.

In response to this, the Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association, Mr. Asante Twum dismissed the allegations of juju in camp and said that they are attempts to tarnish the image of the Black stars team and the Football Association.

“We all have beliefs as individuals. There was no day that I slept before 3 am. And I didn’t hear any Mallam chanting. No Mallam was hired for the Black Stars. There is no chance that juju exists in the Black Stars. The players have their individual beliefs and we can’t stop them.”

He was also confident the Black Stars will qualify for the World Cup as he conceded that failure to do so will further ruin the image of the football governing body.

“We will fight to qualify for the World Cup. We believe that not qualifying for the World Cup will do our industry more harm.”
