Born on May 13, 1994, Tau initiated his football journey with Mamelodi Sundowns in the Premier Soccer League. Over two seasons, he made significant contributions, winning the league title twice, clinching the CAF Champions League, and earning accolades such as Footballer of the Year and joint-top-goalscorer in his final season. Despite a brief loan to Witbank Spurs, Tau’s impact remained evident.

His career led him to Brighton in 2018, but due to work-permit challenges, he was temporarily loaned to Union SG in Belgium. There, he received the Proximus League Player of the Season award.
