Popcaan joined Vybz Kartel’s Gaza Music Empire in 2008. In 2010, he co-wrote the international hit “Clarks” with Kartel, an homage to the iconic shoe brand.

Popcaan signed with Mixpak Records in 2013 and released his first studio album, Where We Come From. Popcaan signed with Drake’s record label, OVO Sound, and Warner Records in 2016.
