The family of Jerry John Rawlings, have said the former President fell sick after his mother’s funeral leading to his death.
The family made this known when they officially announced the sad news to President Akufo-Addo at the Jubilee House on Thursday.
According to the family, Rawlings became unwell after burying his mother, Victoria Agbotui last month but could not survive.
Ghana’s longest-serving head of state died on Thursday reportedly of coronavirus. It is said that he was in the intensive care unit at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra.
The funeral arrangement will be communicated in due course.
