The champions capitulated and conceded four goals to lose the game. Valencia were awarded three penalties, which were all converted by Carlos Soler.
All three penalties were caused by Madrid defenders, Marcelo, Lucas Vázquez and Sergio Ramos. The only defender, Varane who did not concede a penalty scored an own goal.
It is their second defeat of the season.
