Mohamed Salah’s reputation keeps soaring thanks to an explosive campaign at Liverpool. The mercurial player has become so popular in his native country that Egyptians decided to vote for him during the country’s general elections although he is not a contestant.

Some Egyptian electorates have decided to cross the two options on their ballot papers and rather wrote the Liverpool Star’s name and voted for him as their preferred candidate to rule the country.

Report say almost 1 million Egyptians voted for him during the election (they wrote his name on the ballot paper, knowing very well that doing so will invalidate it) which to some extent shows how delighted they are with Salah’s exploit for the national team and Liverpool.

The Ballot Papers with the footballer’s names have all been counted as spoilt ballots and that equals 5% of total votes cast.
