Ron Deon DeSantis is an Italian descent as all his great-grandparents were born in Italy. Salvatore Storti, his maternal great-great-grandfather, arrived in America from Italy in 1904 and finally settled in Pennsylvania. In 1917, Luigia Colucci followed her husband to the United States. When he was six years old, his family relocated from Orlando, Florida, to Dunedin, Florida.

Ron DeSantis served as the 6th district representative for Florida in the US House of Representatives from 2013 to 2018 before being elected governor.
