McGrath was charged with wire fraud and embezzlement, having allegedly stolen $276,000 from the State of Maryland. He has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Well, Roy McGrath has died. He passed on Monday, April 3, 2023, following a confrontation with the FBI near Knoxville, Tennessee.
He had been the subject of a 21-day manhunt launched after he failed to show up to federal court in Baltimore on March 13, 2023.
Roy McGrath suffered a gunshot wound and succumbed to injuries, lawyer Joseph Murtha said in an email.
However, it wasn’t clear whether the injury was self-inflicted or whether it occurred in an exchange of gunfire with FBI agents, Murtha added.
