The former president of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama just cast his votes a few minutes ago and he could not hide frustration about the fact that most voters couldn’t find their names in the voters’ register.

The leader of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) voted in his hometown in Bole Bamboi which is one of his strongholds so you could tell why he immediately talked about the issue passionately while speaking to the press moments after exercising his franchise.

“The hitches happening means we stand vindicated and these were the issues we were complaining about. Who knows my security man might be one of those whose name was taken out. He has come here and his name is not on the register but I registered with him and we confirmed his name during the exhibition exercise. I cannot make a general appraisal of it but later we will see if this is specific or there is a general pattern to it.

I came here for instance and a lady similarly has not been able to vote because her name is not on the voter’s register even though she has her voters ID card which has this polling station number on it,” he added.
