Former world number one women’s tennis star Serena Williams has showed her support for her colleague Naomi Osaka after withdrawing from the French Open.

GhGossip about two days ago reported that the Japanese tennis star has withdrawn from the ongoing French Open following a 15,000 dollars fine for not honoring the mandatory press conference after her first round win at the tournament.

Naomi on her various social media platforms announced her withdrawal from the tournament through a press release stating that he wants to concentrate on dealing with her mental health and depression.

She said she has been depressed and having some mental health problem since she won her first Grand Slam, The US Open in 2018 hence need some time to treat herself and gets back in shape.

Serena when asked to give her take of Naomi’s decision stated she supports her one hundred per cent and wish for her to recover soon and gets back on the court. She added she wish she can give Naomi a hug because depression is not an easy thing to go through as she herself has experience it on first hand.

She pleaded that people should respect Naomi’s decision to quit the French Open tournament because each and everyone has his or her own way of dealing with situations troubling them and for Naomi to make such a big move, she respect her for that.

The rival between Serena Williams and Naomi Osaka started in the finals of the 2018 US Open when Naomi Osaka ‘out of no where’ defeated the then 23-time Grand Slam singles champion Serena Williams to win her first Grand Slam and become the first Japanese to win a Grand Slam title.
