Steve Harley Daughter: Does Steve Harley Have A Daughter?: English singer and songwriter, Stephen Malcolm Ronald Nice, known by his stage name Steve Harley has died, aged 73. He was the frontman of the glam rock group Cockney Rebel.

On Sunday, March 17, 2024, the singer’s family announced that he had died that morning at his home in Suffolk.

In a statement, his family said: “We are devastated to announce that our wonderful husband and father has passed away peacefully at home, with his family by his side.

Harley’s family said they knew the singer would be “desperately missed by people all over the world”. The cause of his death was not mentioned.

In December 2023, Harley wrote on his website that he was “fighting a nasty cancer” for which he was receiving treatment. He had still been touring until recently, but cancelled dates to have cancer treatment.

Steve Harley and his wife, Dorothy had two children; Kerr and Greta. Following the singer’s demise, Kerr and Greta wrote in a statement; “Whoever you know him as, his heart exuded only core elements. Passion, kindness, generosity. And much more, in abundance”

Born in 1951 in South London, Harley was best known as the frontman of the glam rock group Cockney Rebel which was formed in the early 1970s.

The original band was made up of Harley, Jean-Paul Crocker, Stuart Elliott (drummer), Paul Jeffreys (bassist), and Nick Jones (guitarist).

They released their debut studio album, “The Human Menagerie” in 1973. Other projects such as “Here Comes The Sun” was released in 1976.

Harley also presented the BBC Radio 2 show Sounds of the 70s from 1999 to 2008. The show is now hosted by Johnnie Walker.

In an interview in 2023, he said the first half of 2023 had been “magical” as he got to tour in Europe with his band members, adding: “Out there, on the road, that’s where I come alive”

He noted that the second half of 2023 had been “heartbreaking” as the band was forced to cancel live show dates after his cancer diagnosis.

In a post on his website last month (February) he said: “Due to ongoing cancer treatment, Steve cannot commit to any concerts in 2024”

Following his demise, tributes have been paid to Harley from across the music industry.

Helen Thomas, head of Radio 2, said everyone at the station was “saddened” to hear of the news. “We send our condolences to his family and our presenters are paying tribute to him on air,” she said.

Singer-songwriter Mike Batt, who worked with Harley on many songs, described him as a “dear pal” and “lovely guy”.

“What a talent. What a character,” he wrote on X, formerly Twitter. “My condolences to Dorothy and all. RIP, mate.”

Ultravox frontman Midge Ure, who produced Harley’s 1982 track I Can’t Even Touch You, said he was a “true ‘working musician'”.

“He toured until he could tour no more, playing his songs for fans old and new,” Ure wrote on social media. “Our songs live on longer than we ever can.”

The TV presenter Lorraine Kelly said she “loved his music” and recalled watching the band as a teenager. “Great gig,” she added.
