Stonebwoy, birthed as Livingstone Etse Satekla (born 5 March 1988) is a Ghanaian Afropop, dancehall, and reggae.
He is the President and CEO of Burniton Music Group. At the 2015 BET Awards, he was named Best International Act: Africa, and at the Ghana Music Awards, he was named Artist of the Year. He has also received two Billboard plaques. Stonebwoy was awarded the Boomplay Golden Club trophy after achieving 100 million streams on the site. He has been dubbed the African reggae and dance hall king.
Who is Stonebwoy?
Stonebwoy, called “Stoneboy,” was born in Ashaiman, Ghana’s Greater Accra district, and began making music in elementary school. He recognized his talents and abilities as a lyricist and scriptwriter at a young age, recalling composing and acting in drama plays as early as fourth grade.
He attended Methodist Day Secondary School the same year as rapper Sarkodie, where he earned his high school diploma. In 2013, he completed his tertiary study at the University of Professional Studies, earning a degree in marketing.
Satekla is married to dentist Louisa Ansong Satekla [and has two children. Catherine Jidula Satekla and L Janam Joachim Satekla are their names.
On August 16, 2023, it was reported that the musician was robbed in the United States of America while on tour with his Fifth Dimension record. Armed crooks confronted them right outside the store as they were shopping. Later, Stonebwoy assured his supporters that he was OK and secure.
