Who is Thando Thabethe?

South African actress and radio DJ, Thando Thabethe was born on June 18, 1990 in Johannesburg, Gauteng in South Africa.

Thabethe was a student at Mondeor High. Prior to their final matric examinations in 2018, she was asked to give a speech to grade 12 students by the institution from which she had graduated.

Thando entered the University of Johannesburg after completing her secondary education, where she later earned a Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) in Accounting in 2011.

Thabethe spent the majority of her adolescent years living with her mother alone because her father had died when she was just 13 years old.

Before landing her first TV role at the age of 14, Thabethe performed in theater performances during her adolescent years.

Later, in 2013, she began working for 5FM on The Roger Goode Show. Club 808, Intersexions, Ngempela, Kowethu, 1s and 2s, and Single Guys are a few other well-known pieces.

From 2014 to 2017, she performed the part of Nolwazi Buzo on the South African serial opera Generations: The Legacy. Thabethe became the first African brand ambassador for the German body-care company when she was chosen as a Nivea brand ambassador in 2014.

After joining 5FM, she began hosting The Thando Thabooty Show in 2016 and The Thabooty Drive in 2017.

She co-starred in Mrs. Right Guy, her debut feature film, in 2016 with Dineo Moeketsi, Thapelo Mokoena, and Lehasa Moloi.

Together with Somizi Mhlongo, she hosted the South African Music Awards in 2016 and the South African Film and Television Awards in 2017.

The first episode of Thabethe’s chat program Thando Bares All, which debuted on TLC on June 2, 2018, was broadcast.

She later played Linda Ndlovu in the drama-thriller series Housekeepers in 2018. In the 2019 season 2 of the show, she continued to play the same part. She played Zinhle Malinga, the primary character, in the box office sensation Love Lives Here in 2019.

For Thando Bares All, which aired on TLC, she was nominated for Best TV Host and Best Talk Show in 2019. She later won Best Talk Show.

Thabethe left 5FM in March 2020, five years after beginning her employment there. On March 5, 2020, she hosted the station’s last Thabooty show. On April 7, 2020, she subsequently posted on Twitter the grounds for her resignation.

On March 23, 2021, at 3 p.m., Thabete took over the drive time slot when DJ Fresh left 947. She was named a judge for Miss South Africa 2022 on May 12, 2022.
