A young lady on social media has shared her thoughts about the negative influence of social media.

This lady made her views known in a recent post that she made on her personal social media handle on the popular social media platform, Twitter.

The post that she made reads;

“The worst thing that was brought about by social media is that people no longer want to go through the stages of life.

23 year olds want to have the same lifestyle as 33 year old. They want to afford the same things, and when they can’t, they think they’ve failed in life.

I think that’s one of the reasons a lot of people want to date older – because older people have been working for a few years and can afford to take you on luxury vacations and buy you expensive gifts, while your age mates can’t afford all of that cos they’re still young.

One friend was saying she had to save for her first designer bag, which she only bought in her mid-30s.

Young men want to have the same things as 36 year-olds who’ve been working for a decade.

Social media has blurred the l ines and made us forget that there are stages in life and it’s NORMAL to be broke. And to have broke friends/ girlfriends/boyfriends.

Now everybody wants to live a luxurious lifestyle and when you can’t afford it, you think you’re a failure…😏

The most dangerous thing is people are selling their souls and putting themselves in harm’s to maintain a lifestyle they can’t afford, not because they could never afford it, but because they want to have things NOW. They don’t want to go through the regular stages of life…

We really went from young people looking up to people who are older than them, to them literally wanting to be like them NOW and even wanting to compete with them.

It’s crazy. It’s unhealthy. It’s dangerous.”
