Liverpool have confirmed midfielder Thiago Alcantara has tested positive for the coronavirus.
The summer signing is self-isolating and hopeful of recovering soon.
The 29-year-old joined Liverpool from German side Bayern Munich and made his debut as a substitute in a 2-0 win at Chelsea. But a knock in training ruled him out of Premier League win over Arsenal on Monday night.
He will be absent from Thursday’s EFL Cup against Arsenal and then league match away to Aston Villa.
