Deputy Black Stars captain, Thomas Partey has been honored big time in his hometown.

The Arsenal star was honored for the goal he scored that qualified Ghana to #Qatar2022 during the match between Ghana and Nigeria.

This was made known by Ghanaian sports journalist, Saddick Adams. The post he made reads;

“Arsenal Star Thomas Partey honored by his hometown with the title of “Mahefalor”. Was done by the chief of Krobo Traditional Area Nene Sakite II.

Mahefalor means ” Defender of Krobo Traditional Area”

Goal he scored that qualified Ghana to #Qatar2022 was particularly cited.”

Some social media users shared their thoughts on this and below are some of the reactions;

@_mandelamontana – Jokes, our culture is being destroyed day in and day out. Africa is collapsed! Allow the guy to focus on his career , what’s enstooling him going to do for him. Is only in Ghana that once a person becomes famous then they will come up with issues of making him a king.

@hon_adutette – I pray he help with some investors to get at least one factory for the guys there cos it’s very sad
Nice guys and ladies that are willing to do something but the place is so empty. Much love

@Roy_hit12 – A tatoo Chief wow! An ear 👂 ring 💍 wearing King “Mahefalor”. He is a midfielder but has been asked to defend “Mahefalor” because of money 💰. Our tradition and culture is fading away. Our history is gone. Long live King Mahefalor
