The tissue allegedly used by the Argentine footballer Lionel Messi during his farewell address to Barcelona a few weeks ago is being sold at auction for $1 million, according to reports.

Barcelona revealed on Thursday, August 5, that Messi would not sign a new deal with the Spanish club due to financial worries “and structural constraints” that precluded Messi from doing so. Messi disclosed in his farewell message at a press conference from Camp Nou how he tried to stay but could not.

‘I don’t know what to say here,’ he began. ‘These recent days I’ve been thinking, giving lots of thought to what I could say, and the truth is that I can’t think of anything. This is really difficult for me after so many years of being here my entire life.

‘I’m not ready for this and honestly last year with all the nonsense with the burofax and everything, I knew what I wanted to say. But this year, this year is not the same. This year my family and I were convinced that we were going to stay here, that we were going to stay at our home – that’s what we wanted more than anything”.

The tissue paper Lionel Messi stopped to use to wipe his tears few times that he broke down during his address is reportedly on auction for a whopping $1 million.
